Venice hostels for less than 25 dollars
Twizi! notes about Venice, Italy (Venezia): First - getting a hostel or budget accommodation in Venice is not always easy. Of almost all European cities, Venice has the least dorm rooms and the most "ensuite" rooms. What is an ensuite room? It is a room where the hotel / hostel advertises prices like 25 per person, but... you have to have a certain amount of people to fill the room or pay more. Example - A three bed ensuite room for 25 dollars per person is great if you are a group of three people, you each pay 25 dollars and the room is yours. If you are a solo traveler and want to book the same room, you have to pay 75 dollars. Second - I am listing some properties here that are near Venice that are cheap. These places are like a 5-10 minute train or boat ride away from Venice proper.

A neat thing about Venice and my personal favorite way to enter Venice is through the train station. It is a neat way to arrive and when you are inside the train station it is like you are inside any train station but when you go out the back... Bam! you are right in the middle of the Venice you know from the movies. The Grand Canal is right in front of you the gondolas are going by and a bridge to your left promises an interesting start to your exploring. It is also nice to not have your backpack on. Another interesting point about Venice is that it is pretty dead at night and if you want nightlife you will have to go to the surrounding towns anyway. There is the newly listed YHA hostel that is right in Venice proper (see below) In any case, I am listing some really neat places to stay here in and around Venice including campsites, but read the descriptions carefully so you know what's up. About the campsites... They all offer rooms (or tents that are set up like rooms). So even if you don't have a tent you can still stay. You will find young travelers from all over the world and some seriously festive times. I don't usually push tours but Venice is so neat with so many things all around it that aren't usually seen, I recommend at least the Murano, Burano and Torcello Islands where for 25 dollars or so you experience the pleasure of going around the islands of Venice.
