Welcome to Japan Guest House (JGH) Tokyo! We are 14 kilometers away from central Tokyo, yet we are only 3 kilometers away from Akabane, a town in Tokyo full of fun and affordable night life (see Directions section). We are a traditional Japanese home with tatami rooms and a cute garden and we welcome all visitors who are interested in experiencing the wonderful culture and warm hospitality of Japan!
We just wrapped up our first hectic holiday season. Although we were very grateful that so many of you from all around the world came to Japan for the New Year's holiday, we must admit that we were not quite prepared for the number of guests who came to stay. We have learned from our mistakes and we promise a secure, comfortable and clean environment for our guests. Our goal is to make Tokyo accessible to everyone - even those on a very tight budget! We will always try to offer the best and fairest service to all of our guests!
As a part of the new and improved JGH Tokyo, we are offering every guest who stays with us a complimentary (free!) breakfast that includes, cafe au lait, bread, apples, bananas, and tomatoes, oranges, or other foods. This self-service breakfast is available every morning from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the downstairs common area (for a limited time only! - until May 31st). Also, during the check-in process, we will serve a welcome drink, hot during the winter and cold for summer. We believe we are the cheapest hostel in Tokyo that offers these kinds of services!
Our hostel is located in the Nishi-Kawaguchi area, which has many affordable and convenient shops, including a supermarket/department store (Itoyokado), convenience stores (Sunkus, 7-11, etc.), 100-yen shop, 99-yen ($0.85) food shop, drug store (Matsumoto Kiyoshi), bank, post office, coin laundry, bars, karaoke, restaurants and more! Also, we challenge you to find a cheaper take-out spot in all of Japan - only 250 yen plus tax for a 'bento,' a yummy, generous, calorie-enriched Japanese boxed lunch!
JGH Tokyo is easily the cheapest accomodations you will find in Tokyo. But, please be advised that we will collect 390 yen per person for the first night only (for bedding, etc.). We hope that you will understand that this is simply to encourage a longer, more enjoyable stay in beautiful, exciting Tokyo!
Our motto is 'Smiles, Appreciation and Trust.' We hope that all of our guests have a safe and fun time here in Tokyo. We have dormitory-style rooms and encourage communication with and among our guests. This is a great place to make new friends! You are also welcome to teach us some of your native language. If you are interested in teaching in Japan, we will also give you information and advice. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to ask us. Our office hours are 7:00 to 11:00 and 18:00 to 22:00!
Please note that check-in time is 15:00 to 22:00 and check out time is 11:00. If you are arriving in the morning, we will gladly hold your luggage until check-in time. We do not accept credit cards and payment must be made in full in cash upon arrival. Therefore, please make sure that you exchange some currency at the airport. Also, we do not have an age restriction and welcome groups of all shapes and sizes!
