- Let's start with the USA Hollywood hostel, this is in my opinion
the best hostel in Hollywood overall. It has everything I like about
hostels. The location is perfect for not only seeing the Hollywood
sights (look out of the windows here and you will see the famous
Hollywood sign) but it also is located near to the Metro which is
your link to to everything in Los Angeles. They have a super
friendly and informative staff, tons of activities, and a lounge
with a stage where comedy shows and open mikes are held. Nice. The
crowd here is very international and they have free food in the
mornings, pancakes to be exact. (I like that). Also of note, while I
was in Los Angeles photographing different hostels I found myself
going back to this one just to hang out because it is such a fun
place to be.
USA Hollywood hostel details

- This is a cool place and I was quite surprised by how nice it was,
since I hadn't really heard anything about it before. The Vibe is a
motel right on Hollywood Boulevard that has been converted into a
hotel / hostel. It is very brightly painted with a flair for fun and
the staff there are very into it's transformation. The Vibe is not
your average hostel! This is a very economical and friendly place
more suited to those not wanting to be surrounded by hundreds of
backpackers. While I was there the mix of people were mostly those
doing things other than just viewing the sights. There were a couple
of models who were in town for a shoot, a couple of actors in town
for auditions, etc. This is a good place to stay a week or two if
you got things to do in the Hollywood area. They have great private
rooms and all their rooms (dorms and privates) have their own kitchen, bathroom and cable TV. This is a great place to get a private
room in the heart of Hollywood and the dorms are the lowest priced
in Hollywood.
Vibe hostel details

literally right across the street from the most famous landmarks of Hollywood. It is a great place to stay during the Oscars (which are held across the street from the hostel and from the windows you can see the red carpet).
This is the best located hostel in Hollywood.
Hollywood International hostel details

I was unable to stay at this hostel, but I went by to check it out
and visit. I look forward to coming back and staying. This place has
a great location and probably is the best place to stay if you are
seeking a quiet atmosphere, or if you are a couple wanting some
privacy. It is a house with some major Hollywood history to it (built in 1918 and was the home to Marilyn Monroe and Greg Cooper,
etc.). This is an actual house with an actual yard, but it is right
around the corner from the sights. (you could throw a rock and
probably hit the Kodak theater from the back yard)
